The Avalon Songbook
includes lyrics to thirty songs written 1970-2004 by Carl Clayton Caulkins. His original scores for these songs appear on the coyotesjournal.com website. Though Caulkins (né Karl Bruder) has played guitar & sung in France since the early 90’s, his songs reveal the fact that he is an American Romantic in the tradition of late night driving & cross country barroom piano.
Clay Caulkins is the musical godfather of NEW Magazine, the literature and art annual edited by Paul Kahn. Clay has done many readings and performances in Paris, his voice and guitar mesmerizing the crowd at Librairie Mazarine and Musée du Montparnasse. His Avalon Songbook lyrics have been featured in several issues of the magazine.
